Vintage Campers Spotted At Auburn

When Jeff and I were at Auburn we used to love to spend our weekends hiking through these beautiful woods at Chewacla State Park in Auburn. There is a dam that forms a waterfall and people used to swim or go rock hopping. It was a great stress reliever from days on end spent drawing in studio.

Woods walking

Naturally I was intrigued when my photographer friend Robert Fouts said that he was going there last weekend for a campout with people who own vintage campers.

I had visions of old woody cars pulling these cute itsy bitsy campers behind them. I asked him if he would take some shots and share them with me since I knew his camera would be clicking away anyway. He kindly obliged. All images are his. You can see more of his work at  PhotoFouts.com or you can reach him at 334-549-1956.

Now don’t they just look happy to be there! Man and dog.

Oh my! How cute is this! It looks like Tybee Island on wheels.

Do I spy Duck Dynasty on the fridge? 🙂  And check out that old coffee pot. My grandmama used to call it a percolator.

I think this might be Robert’s but I’m not sure.

How cute is it that they carry their own little yards/gardens with them… complete with the infamous pink flamingo.

Something tells me this one had some Grateful Dead in its background. haha

I will be the first to admit that I am not a camper but it looks like they had a great time, doesn’t it? Any ideas for a non-camping related trip we can all go on together?

Next post we catch up with an old friend who does love to camp. You just MIGHT want to know about his latest adventure. You are invited! Stay tuned.

  • Cindy, this is a great post! Makes me want to go pitch a tent or rent a camper and head on up!
We all need to mingle with nature more.
