Today on part III of my Tybee Island posts I get to write about the fun stuff—the cottages!!! I told you that “the ladies” and I got to stay at best-selling author Mary Kay Andrews’ house called Breeze Inn. Today, I will show you why I was so excited about that. (Although every blogger there claimed that they had the best house. Guess you just can’t go wrong with a Mermaid Cottage!)
Meet Breeze Inn all decked out in her tropical coat of turquoise and white.
The hot pink necklace of a front door just screams, “Come inside and see the good stuff!”
So we obliged. 🙂
Passing through that pinkalicious door this is the first thing you see:
After four days we were still finding little surprises that delighted.
How great is this chest? I never did remember to ask MKA if she found it like that or if she painted it. I would not be surprised to find out that she did.
At the opposite end of the room, just off the “I love Lucy” apple green kitchen, is the dining area. Your babies will love sitting in this vintage wicker highchair watching all of the bikers pass by.
Through the kitchen is this screened porch. Try to look at it and not smile. I dare you.
If you make the full loop through the porch and back into the house you find the sleeping porch.
There was something about that little stair rail that just tugged at my heart. I loved it so much.
And you STAND the framed vintage baby bikinis?????
Upstairs you will find three bedrooms and two more baths.
Somehow I ended up with the master. Lucky me. How lovely is this?
That bed is so comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed the three hours I got to spend in it. tee hee
One thing I observed is that when you are in a writer’s home every where you turn there is a cozy spot to curl up with a good book.
And she provided plenty of those.
Y’all ready for this? I squealed when I turned this corner and couldn’t wait to run the other bloggers up stairs to see.
Check it out! That’s where the magic happens. She no longer uses the old typewriter or the rotary phone to call her publisher but she is, as we speak, sitting at this little white desk working on book number 23. Six jacket covers hang as motivation over that desk along with the New York Times Best Seller list with MKA’s title highlighted.
Talk about discipline. She writes about 1800 words a day— every day.
And I struggle to get a decent blog post out. Inspiring.
Thanks to Beth from Unskinny Boppy for getting the picture of my bath that I forgot to get showing the clawfoot tub and shower.
The other two bedrooms add sleeping for five more lucky peeps.
Heading back downstairs I just have to show you what it looked like to hang out with a bunch of crazy blogging women all week.
Everywhere! “Could you please step out of my shot for a sec?”
The one with the camera in her face in front of the door is Laura from Finding Home.
She had to one-up me. She stayed in the master bedroom at Mary Kay’s other house. To prove it to her readers…
she had a picture made “in bed with” MKA. Nut. ( Laura’s on the right)
A great bunch of gals.
A TALENTED bunch of gals.
This gal was honored to be a part.

It was such a charming house! Your photos are great, and it was such a joy to be there with you and the other chicks from Montgomery!
Cindy
Thanks LA. Your house was pretty adorable also! You just can’t go wrong with a Mermaid house can you? Have a great week.
Jen (Balancing Beauty and Bedlam)
It was so wonderful meeting you, Cindy! You are such a true sweetheart. I only wish we had had more time to chat. 🙂
Cindy
Aww, thanks Jen. ME TOO! Our time together just flew. I just realized that your conference is at Ridgecrest. That place holds such awesome memories for me. We used to go every year for a family life conference.
