How To Hang Pictures On A Stair Wall

It seems that everyone is in picture hanging mode this week.  I have a really neat trick that I have used/taught for decades on how to hang pictures gallery style.     I thought it might be helpful to you; so we cut a little video to try and explain the process fully. Hope it helps!   This is for when you are hanging single pictures...

What Makes The HGTV House Smart? Find Out Here

Yesterday I gave you a teaser about the HGTV Smart House but today I am sending you over to KariAnne from Thistlewood Farms to get the nitty gritty low down since she was one of a small group of bloggers invited to tour the house this week. She speaks of things like remote control toilets and doggy doors and ……. yep, I know. Say whaaaat?

Sounds like the Jetsons to me. I guess we really have arrived at the house of tomorrow. BTW, I accidentally had an encounter with one of those toilets. uh huh. The part I loved?

Heated seat.

If you know me you know I hate cold. All cold. Never met a cold I liked.

Really liked the heated seat. LOL

Color Trends According To Benjamin Moore

Benjamin Moore says that these colors make up one wave of the color trends for this year. (caveat: none are true on my screen. ie coral essence is way too pink) Even so,  "The Writer noticed a distinct similarity in something. Do you see it?   // [caption id="attachment_6483" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Photo Credit: Macy Walker[/caption]       It would appear that we were 8 years ahead...

Kitchen Designs

I just started on a renovation plan for a kitchen design and thought I would share the process as my thoughts are forming. This is the original layout but I will be making a lot of changes to this footprint and would love your feedback along the way.

Almost everything is changing.  This is the list I am working from:

1. Don’t need study. Would rather use this space as combination laundry/pantry area

2. Entrance hall is boring. (stairs go down, not up)

3. Not crazy about kitchen layout.  Don’t like any appliances in island. (Sink and DW are there now. Often entertain 30-35 people so need flexibility)

I will let you glance at my re-work and then walk you through it.

Breeze Inn But Prepare To Stay A While

Today on part III of my Tybee Island posts I get to write about the fun stuff—the cottages!!! I told you that “the ladies” and I got to stay at best-selling author Mary Kay Andrews’ house called Breeze Inn. Today, I will show you why I was so excited about that. (Although every blogger there claimed that they had the best house. Guess you just can’t go wrong with a Mermaid Cottage!)

Meet Breeze Inn all decked out in her tropical coat of turquoise and white.

The hot pink necklace of a front door just screams, “Come inside and see the good stuff!”

So we obliged. 🙂

Passing through that pinkalicious door this is the first thing you see:

After four days we were still finding little surprises that delighted.

How great is this chest? I never did remember to ask MKA if she found it like that or if she painted it. I would not be surprised to find out that she did.
