Before and After posts are my very favorites. Today we’re talking Living Rooms.
Don’t you agree that seeing a room go from unused and unloved – because it is just not “you” – to something that makes you do the happy dance every time you walk by is something worth celebrating??? I do! And so does the sweet family who lives in this home. We have been slowly working our way through the house making each room a special place designed just for their family and I can’t even tell you how much fun we have had.
So…… I give you the Living Room…… BEFORE
The room was dark and oh so serious and did I mention never used? “Ain’t nobody got time for that.”
After much discussion with the owners I learned that what they really wanted was an adult space where they could close those double bi-fold doors to the den and actually have a conversation without Dora’s input. (You would have to have kids or grands to understand.) They wanted bright and happy and sophisticated. They wanted to be able to sit in a pleasant environment and watch the kids in the pool which is just beyond that big window that was BEHIND the sofa. (Think jump up and turn around at every scream. Not good.)
Sooooooooooooo, we did this.
Yep, you can squeal. It’s ok. We did, too. I had to include this photo to give you the overall feel of the room even if it is dark in the foreground. This room is hard to shoot! The rest of the photographs are by Kevin Palmer of Shootflyshoot and Layla Palmer of The Lettered Cottage.
The idea behind the rather unusual arrangement was to give two separate sitting areas. One for sipping tea by the fire with a good book and another for more of a group conversation while enjoying the summer views out the window.
Can I tell you how much I love those Lee Industry chairs? We had fun trying different arrangements with them. With a quick twist of the chairs you have 8 people invited into the conversation. Perfect for her Bible study groups.
This is a very “designed by Montgomerians” space. The chairs are the Castle Praha chair by Bobby McAlpine for Lee but they are covered in Trees from the Cindy Barganier Textile Line.
The Artwork above the fireplace is also from my line and is called Reflections.
The sofas are named Jennifer and are from the Cindy Barganier Furniture line. The bolster pillows are from our line also. That handsome little HEAVY table is from Parrish.
The fabric is called Dribbles.
Thanks for letting us share a little sunshine today. We hope you enjoyed it.
Coming up, we are starting on some very fun projects that I hope to share with you. There are so many decisions to be made before a house even comes out of the ground. Get your designer involved early. You won’t regret it.
ciao!
